Sam L Smith is a guitarist, pianist, composer, and educator. As a performer, he has toured extensively all over the US, playing guitar for acts like Sarah Borges, Amy Black, and Eric ‘Roscoe’ Ambel, where he shared bills with acts like Patty Griffin, James McMurtry, and Sonny Landreth.

A graduate of the Berklee College of Music ('15), Sam continues to perform and compose music, most recently composing promotional music for WGBH's Sing That Thing.

Sam works as a private guitar and piano instructor at the Commonwealth Music School, a traveling music school that offers private lessons to students local to the Hingham, Norwell, Scituate, and Cohassett areas. He works as a private instructor at the Canton Music School, and is the classroom music teacher at St. Paul School in Hingham. He brings over 25 combined years of musical training to his teaching, having studied classical piano for 12 years with pianist Elan Sicroff and guitar with Berklee College of Music professors Guy Van Duser and Rick Peckham. In addition, he teaches beginner voice, ukulele, and songwriting/composition.

He is a passionate and dedicated teacher, and he believes in applying traditional musical education techniques while catering his lessons to the goals of the student in order to better develop students' artistic individuality and unique appreciation of music.
